Sharing God's Love Around the World
Baylor Missions began the new year by embodying the love of Jesus around the globe! Nearly 70 students, faculty, and staff served on mission trips across four countries this winter break. Trips with Baylor Missions combine faithful worldwide service with discipline-specific education. This January, students were deeply impacted by learning about different cultures, using their vocations to impact the world, living out the Christian task to love their neighbors, and growing in spiritual formation.
A trip to the Dominican Republic allowed students studying in the pre-physician assistant program to serve in clinics, shadow physicians in hospitals, and provide healthcare checkups to communities. Students were also able to minister to local children though food distribution and Bible studies.
Students majoring in pre-health and allied health joined the CURE BU student organization in the Philippines, where they were welcomed by hospitals and children’s centers. Students provided healthcare and ministerial assistance while learning from local physicians.
Members of Kappa Kappa Gamma traveled to Guatemala, where they worked alongside local ministers to meet the physical and spiritual needs of multiple communities. Students participated in food distribution, church programs for vulnerable children and parents, and community relationship building.
A team of students from Vertical and Baptist Student Ministries joined University Chaplain and Dean of Spiritual Life Dr. Charles Ramsey on a trip to Christ University in India. Dr. Ramsey invited Baylor students to foster meaningful relationships with students at Christ University as they ministered to surrounding communities.
Each trip participant brought their heart, education, and faith to the areas they served and left with a lifechanging experience. Baylor Missions is grateful for the ways our students impacted the communities they traveled to, as well as the ways those communities had an impact on their own growth and spiritual journeys. We look forward to our coming trips in the May minimester and summer, and how our students will continue to faithfully engage with the world.
