Dr. Nathan T. Elkins, assistant professor of art history, received Extraordinary Merit, Book of the Year: The Work Having the Greatest Potential Impact on Numismatics from Numismatic Literary Guild, on Aug. 15, 2016, for N.T. Elkins, Monuments in Miniature: Architecture on Roman Coinage, New York: American Numismatic Society, 2015.

Dr. Michael B. Frisch, professor of psychology, received NIH Grant to study Frisch’s Quality of Life Therapy for Heart Disease from National Institute of Health, USA, 2016, for the need for non-medication treatments for arrhythmias and heart disease.

Dr. Mia Moody-Ramirez, associate professor, received Outstanding Woman in Journalism and Mass Communication Award from AEJMC Commission on the Status of Women, on Aug. 6, 2016. The award recognizes a leading educator each year who has represented women well through excellence and high standards. The non-profit Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication represents more than 3,700 educators, students and practitioners in the United States and around the world.

Cheryl A. Tucker, clinical associate professor, received Tony & Renee Marlon Scholarship in the amount of $5,000 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Jan. 29, 2016. Scholarship recipients must be pursuing a doctor of nursing practice in nursing and have a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average.

Dr. Trena Wilkerson, professor, received E. Glenadine Gibb Achievement Award from Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics, June 2016, for leadership and contributions to the improvement of mathematics education at the state and national level.

Dr. Daniel H. Williams, professor of religion, received Robert E. Webber Prize from Robert E. Webber Center at Trinity School for Ministry, Pittsburgh, Pa., June 2016, for contributions in furthering the role of the Ancient Church in the task of interpreting contemporary Christianity.
