Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to experience the legend of the Titanic. On display in Baylor University's Mayborn Museum, the exhibition will place you in the shoes of one of the Titanic’s 2,240 passengers and crew that fateful night 106 years ago.
The exhibition features more than 150 authentic artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with stateroom re creations and personal stories. Visitors will receive a replica boarding
pass with the name of an actual Titanic passenger upon entering the exhibition and will find out if that passenger survived at the end. The exhibition is a chronological journey through the life of Titanic, moving through the ship’s construction, to life on board, to the ill-fated sinking and amazing artifact rescue efforts. The sinking of the RMS Titanic is one of the most tragic maritime disasters of all time. Carrying an estimated 2,224 passengers, a mere 706 survived.
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will run through January 6, 2019. It’s a part of nine traveling and permanent versions of the exhibition, which have been viewed by more than 25 million people worldwide. Included among the several hundred artifacts on display are an ornate cup from first class, a gold chandelier and a pair of women’s dress shoes.

these artifacts and seeing re-creations of the ship help us connect with the passengers on that ill-fated day. “This is a unique and often times haunting experience in that visitors will be able to place themselves in the shoes of some of these passengers,” Walter said.
This is the first time the Mayborn Museum has offered an online ticket purchase option for an exhibit. “Offering a timed ticket option has many benefits,” said Walter. “You don’t have to stand in line, and it ensures the exhibition won’t be over-packed, leading to a more enjoyable experience.” Walter stressed this is “the largest collection of Titanic
artifacts and will only be available for viewing for a limited time. This is your opportunity to be close to and to be able to relate to such a monumental piece of history that will forever be remembered.”
The Mayborn Museum Complex provides a wide spectrum of learning opportunities to engage visitors of all ages. The exhibits and education programs encourage families to learn together and design their own museum experiences. This complex features a natural science and cultural history museum focusing on Central Texas with walk-in dioramas including one on the Waco Mammoth Site. The Mayborn's Jeanes Discovery Center also encompasses a multi-floor science
discovery center encouraging hands-on learning for all ages and the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village. The nine wood frame buildings that comprise the village provide a glimpse into the past, bringing to life a community in the 1890s. The museum is open Monday–Saturday from 10am–5pm, Thursday from 10am–8pm and Sunday from 1pm–5pm.
Ticket prices for this special exhibition are $6 for members and $11 for Baylor students, while nonmembers are $19 for adults, $13 for children ages 2–12 and $16 for seniors. Online tickets are highly recommended and can be purchased at baylor.edu/mayborn.
