Equity and Title IX Offices Combine to Better Serve Campus

February 5, 2020

The Equity Office will now be working closely with the Title IX Office, combining efforts to ensure the Baylor campus is a safe and non-discriminatory learning, living and working environment for all members of the University community.

Laura Johnson, who has served as Title IX coordinator since 2018, will now serve as the University’s associate vice president for equity and Title IX coordinator. Additionally, the Equity Office added Brice Yates as the assistant vice president for equity. Both Johnson and Yates began their new roles on December 9.

The Equity Office handles matters related to equal opportunity, affirmative action and civil rights as well as corresponding training in these areas. Johnson and Yates join Shirl Brown, manager of affirmative action and equal opportunity, and Brittney Wardlaw, manager of equity and civil rights, current Equity Office staff members. Johnson and Yates will also guide the work of the President’s Diversity Council.
