Hispanic Heritage Month in Waco

At Baylor, we join our Waco community in recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. This is an opportunity to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of those whose ancestry comes from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Many exciting events will be hosted on the Baylor campus and around Waco celebrating Hispanic and Latin cultures. Follow @latinxcoalitionbu and @baylorma_cubtalk for more details on upcoming events!

Waco, TX 76706
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Mayborn! There are two exhibitions up through October 15 recognizing Hispanic cultural heritage. Vida a Color is collaborative exhibition by artists Ines Alvidres and Eric Linares that brings their traditions to you in the hope that you will experience the power that art can inspire. The Community Ofrenda “gives us the opportunity to remember our loved ones as they were in life,” says Eric Linares, the artist behind the exhibition. As we count down the days to Dia de los Muertos, everyone is invited to bring an image or memento of their loved one to place on the Ofrenda.
-
On Monday, September 25, there will be a special bilingual storytime with artist Eric Linares from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
-
Hispanic Leaders’ Network will host a Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the Mayborn on Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us on October 1 to meet the artists behind these exhibitions as well as Baylor scientists from the Sleep Neuroscience & Cognition Laboratory to learn all about sleep and the sleeping brain.
