Baylor Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Events
Each October, Baylor University recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and joins national efforts to advocate against domestic violence, mourn the loss of those whose lives were taken by domestic violence, celebrate the progress the movement has made and connect each other with a sense of unity to end domestic violence.
Throughout this month, the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office is hosting several events centered around raising awareness, supporting prevention and building community.
Oct 9: DVAM Tabling Event
Pick up a Bystander Intervention Toolkit and cookies from Simply Delicious
12 – 1 p.m. at Fountain Mall
Oct 17: Day of Remembrance Ceremony (20th Anniversary)
Hosted by the Family Abuse Center
6 p.m. at the Waco Suspension Bridge
Oct 22: DVAM Tabling Event
Domestic Violence Awareness Month Resources and a sweet treat
2 - 4 p.m. in the BSB Atrium
Oct 23: Light the Night
Rosenbalm Fountain will be lit purple, the color that represents DVAM, as a symbol of peace, dignity, survival and dedication to ending domestic violence.
6 - 7 p.m. at Fountain Mall
Oct 30: Empowerment & Self-Defense Training
5 - 7 p.m. at Cashion 501
