Baylor Missions has gone global this summer! This May, over 175 Baylor students and leaders embarked on twelve trips around the world to serve our global neighbors. Baylor Bears went on mission in countries including Belize, the Dominican Republic, South Africa, Kenya, Greece, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and more.

Trips with Baylor Missions allow students to combine what they’re learning in class with service, all while showing Christ’s love to others. Through these trips, students were deeply impacted by learning about different cultures, using their vocations to impact the world, living out the Christian task to love their neighbors, and growing in spiritual formation.

A number of teams focused on meeting medical needs. Pre-health students conducted community visits, led health workshops, and shadowed local physicians in South Africa and Costa Rica, while pre-nursing students visited hospitals and taught educational sessions in Kenya.

Other teams brought their specialized vocations and majors to the mission field. Business students mentored small business owners in Belize, engineering students worked on water-related projects in Kenya, and pre-veterinarian students served at an animal shelter in Guatemala.

Teams of students studying music used their talents for ministry as well. The Baylor Religious Hour Choir performed musical outreach alongside English classes and food distribution in New York City, while the School of Music traveled across Kenya staging concerts and engaging in humanitarian aid projects across schools, towns, and churches.

These highlights are only a small snapshot of all the ways Baylor students have gone on mission this summer. Across our twelve May trips, there are over 175 unique stories of missional living waiting to be shared. We’re thankful for the impact and growth our students have had this summer, and look forward to all the ways our students will continue to love our global neighbors.
