Baylor Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Events
Each October, Baylor University recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and joins national efforts to advocate against domestic violence, mourn the loss of those whose lives were taken by domestic violence, celebrate the progress the movement has made and connect each other with a sense of unity to end domestic violence.
Throughout this month, the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office is hosting several events centered around raising awareness, supporting prevention and building community.
DVAM Kickoff Blitz | October 1, 12–2 p.m. | BSB E-Wing Atrium
Help the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX team kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Stop by to meet the team, learn about support resources, and pick up a special takeaway bag with a DVAM pin and a QR code for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
The Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX team will also be at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing on the Dallas campus October 2 from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. to share DVAM resources and connect with students there.
Light the Night | October 7, evening | Baylor residence halls
Look for Light the Night displays in Baylor residence halls. Students will have the opportunity to create displays with purple flowers, candles, and messages of hope to show support for survivors and remind our community that no one is alone.
Green Flags Only at Dr Pepper Hour | October 20, 3–4 p.m. | Barfield Drawing Room
What does a healthy relationship look like? Stop by Dr Pepper Hour to explore the green flags of relationships and meet campus partners who support students. Pick up a Green Flag Passport, get it stamped as you visit each table and turn it in for a chance to win a prize!
Day of Remembrance | October 22, 6–7 p.m. | Waco Suspension Bridge
Join us for an evening of remembrance as we honor lives lost to domestic violence, stand alongside survivors, and come together in support and hope.
